WISCONSIN, MISSISSIPPI RIVER, MINNESOTA, SOUTH DAKOTA, WYOMING.
The western part of Wisconsin are Hills and valleys with little farms, with an occasional massive rock formation that juts up from the middle of a tree cluster like a statue.
Mississippi, WIIIIIDDDDDDEEEE. Thoughts of seger, drove over the Mississippi at sunrise. I've decided I'm coming back here, via river travel.
EYOTA, MINNESOTA-
accents. fargo. this place could not get any flatter.
gas here is roughly $3.87, the cheapest we have encountered so far. We stopped at a little gas station for a while to give the honda a break. There I calmed my dad's nerves assuring him that I stayed at the Howard Johnson last night, and not next to a roller coaster in fake city Wisconsin Dells. Craig seems tired, and he sleeps for about 40 mins, before we get moving again.
The farther we go, the better I feel. This driving... it is a good kind of therapy.
>>And the mountain masses move in motion like mechanical bulls. Still, my thoughts lie in the crease of your jeans. Where your hip meets your thigh, and we drink it in.
This dream-- The old man giggled and he whispered at me,
"Even though you scan see it all see every thing all at once, if you close your eyes lightly and count backwards from 100 and at 90 everything will be a blur again, and you will sleep again. But, if you break it and think it, you will not sleep, but will be bothered to wake to the same things again."--i count back from 100 to fall asleep now.
What is the Big Bother OK?
I killed a bird today.
Or more, it flew into the front window of the car.
I killed it in South Dakota.
So Craig had to drive.
As we drove west more, we approached this lovely patch of nothing called the Badlands.
Out of the grass, sprang beautiful sand and rock formations, which I found out later date back to the Cretaceous, Eocene, and Oligocene epochs. It is also an area greatly enriched with history of the Lakota Sioux Nation. Sprinkled about, were wild buffalo and hand painted signs pointing us in the direction of Mt. Rushmore (Exit 61), Rapid City, The Reptile Garden, and many others.
Stopped off in Rapid City for camping sustenance.
WYOMING FOR THE LONG HAUL- SCATTER MY ASHES HERE MOM, will you?
WYOMING
So, what looked like storm clouds in the distance, actually turned out to be the Rockies.

Meet a trucker who excited tells me about the photos of the deer she took. She was sweet.
These mountains are too much of everything. And they follow us almost to Yellow Stone. Or to the town of Sheridan, Wyoming.
SHERIDAN, WYOMING
Our phone batteries are dead. So we stop off at a gas station, which would be the last one before we go over the mountain.
So we charge our phones on the side of the building.
Purchase wood from the blonde cashier from Montanna?

Travel 8,600 ft over mountain, winding roads, snow, rock cliffs, ravine, rapids, 20+ deer along the way, 360 degree rock walls surrounding us... oh yeah.
Stop to play along side the rapid water in the ravine, then continue onto Yellowstone.
YELLOWSTONE

Our site is BridgeBay
...after getting lost for a bit trying to find a spot, we end up setting up our tent at 2 am. The night is freezing, even with 2 pairs of pants, a hoodie, and 2 shirts. And there is some animal in the bush next to us.
